Upward and Onward with a side of birthday cake

We decided our first stop would be in Pontotoc for a free night (we are basically homeless) to begin our journey. Plus, our two year old had her own vacation in Mississippi with her grandparents while we were vacationing in Hawaii so we needed to pick her up...don't tell her we went to the beach, ok?

Stella had her own adventure though...

helping Gammy in the yard

SHOPPING….she was with GAMMY, no surprise there!

The park + feeding the ducks = a great day for this girl!

You have to earn your keep!

Buffalo Park in Tupelo with Poppi (pronounced Popeye!)

HAPPY GIRL!

She even had a play-date whose Mama used to have play-dates with Jordan!

Jordan's sister had mentioned that we should celebrate Debbie's Birthday together that night since we would all be there (WHY NOT?!) READ: we are crazy!

Celebrating Gammy!

We had dinner and dessert on the rooftop at ParkHeights.

So we drove in, and after much convincing Jordan's dad FINALLY pushed Debbie out of the house to get her to a rooftop party with her friends. It was nice to visit with everyone and Stella became a self proclaimed photographer.

What a fun group!

Moving on up....

We have moved!

And we survived!

We are loving our new town and Stella has adjusted like a champ! As my mom let me know, the toddler will adjust faster than us, and I think she was right. Although I am not sure it has hit me yet that we have moved half way across the country!?!

So, with that said, we are only here for a limited amount of time, and a goal I have is to document the year!

So here we go…..

Last morning in paradise….Maui

view outside our condo

Yes, we enjoyed a week in Maui! And then we flew back to Dallas. The flight is interesting. You board the flight at 4:45pm in Maui, and fly 8 hours back to Dallas (it's direct…which is awesome) and then land in Dallas at 5AM!!

But…..we went to MAUI for a week.

So by the time we collected our luggage and drove from DFW, we arrived back at home at 6am, and began packing. Conveniently, I have no pictures from this day. FORTUNATELY!

Couple of things:

JET LAG is real…luckily so is ADRENALINE

Make friends with your neighbors so when the electricity company…cough…RELIANT…turns off your electricity a day early, you can have clean underwear!

PIZZA is a must for a moving dinner break…friends to help you eat it are an extra bonus!

Realizing we will NEVER replace this special house, neighborhood and people was a hard pill to swallow!

the next morning…about to drive away from Wyatt Street

that's a 16 foot truck with all of our belongings

As we were driving out of the state of TEXAS, the sky turned an ominous black and Jordan questioned whether we should be leaving Texas…this is crossing the Mississippi River.
