How did you spend your Valentine's Day?

Forget a long weekend at a B&B, a relaxing dinner at a fancy restaurant, and couples' massages....

For our Valentine's Day, Jordan and I transformed our dining area from this...

to this....

yep, we ripped out the floors, baseboards and shoe molding!

And forget flowers, chocolates, and lingerie...

my husband bought me hardwood floors, and I am so excited!!

My parents are going to come to Dallas the first weekend of March to help install it! Woohoo!

Let the transformation begin...

IN OTHER NEWS,

Jordan passed STEP 3!

So proud of him, and so happy that we don't have to pay for it again...those tests are expensive!

And....

Karma turned 3!

I know. She's just a puppy, but to Jordan and I she is our sweet little girl!
I bought her a rope to chew on, and we lit candles in a "birthday cake" just for her; I think it was chicken and beed favored; put it this way, we didn't have a piece!

excuse the way I look! I had been pulling up flooring all day!

blow out your candles...
she was scared.

We just couldn't imagine our lives without this little girl! She is so happy and always willing to cuddle. So lucky to have her in our lives!

Friday morning

I couldn't help myself and had to get out for the Snow Day. While Jordan is away, Karma and Lili will play. Stan joined us, and walked Karma so that I could take some breathtaking pictures to capture the snow!

our tree in the front (to the left) has a branch that snapped

she loved it!

snowman-in honor of the birthday girl-Mille

look at how deep her legs are....poor thing just wanted to go potty

We found kids with their dad sliding down a hill, and I thought I should try, that's me!
IN. PAIN.
yes I started rubbing my butt, and sat there for five minutes
what was I thinking!
and then the dad says yeah I need to work on covering the curb better, that's why I am just letting the kids go down. geez, thanks!

We interrupt the regular posting on this blog to bring you this special announcement!

It has snowed 12.5" in Dallas, Texas. Whoa! It has been kind of crazy around here. People here are definitely not used to this weather or driving and neither are we! We are so lucky that we did not lose power (a lot of people did). Jordan had to drive in Friday morning after the snow, and he said the biggest obstacle were the fallen trees.

The snow started to fall sometime around 2am Thursday morning, and didn't stop until sometime early Friday morning! When I woke up Thursday morning, I immediately noticed a big blanket in our front and backyard. Jordan had been up and hadn't even noticed. I think when he would have seen that his car was covered with 5" of snow, he might have realized that it snowed.

We had so much fun running around Thursday afternoon with Karma and Stan just throwing snowballs and making snow angels. We couldn't believe how much was accumulating so fast.

Here are some pictures from Thursday....

The Granada

Dallas has vintage theaters throughout the city. Some are refurbished movie theaters, others have live shows and The Granada on Greenville Avenue is pure live music.

We have been wanting to go to the Granada since we moved here and on Thursday, January 28th we went to see Todd Snider

It was a fun night, with great music. I think Jordan and I both loved Todd Snider but enjoyed the two opening acts just as much!

Todd Snider....very cool

The Trishas-maybe my favorite, think Dixie Chicks, all harmony

The Great American Taxi-great Jam Band--definitely had me dancing!

The Granada was an awesome venue, I met Jordan there after work and while I was driving there he sent me a text that said,

"This place is just like the State Theater....ahh....memories!"

So glad we found this place!

Meet you at Uncle Calvin's

Jordan's parents, Bob and Debbie, visited us at the end of January and we had a great weekend. Friday, Bob bought us tickets to hear Carrie Newcomber at Uncle Calvin's Coffeehouse. Sounds normal enough right? Wrong. It was a very neat experience. Uncle Calvin's is a coffeehouse that features songwriters that just happens to also be a Presbyterian Fellowship Hall. So, picture this....should have taken a picture....about 30 minutes before the doors open, just like any other bar, there are lines of people BUT in the foyer of the church! No alcohol, it's Prebyterian (not Catholic), but they had coffee, tea, water, and cakes and pies! The fellowship hall has been completely transformed into a lounge sans booze and smoke. It was a beautiful night with music, very moving...

Bob and Debbie enjoying the music

Carrie Newcomber
It was great hearing the story behind the music as well, don't you wonder what the songwriter was thinking when he/she wrote a song, she sang a beautiful song about her father.
The rest of the weekend was a lot of fun, we ran around Dallas, ate wonderful food, and watched the Saints beat Brett Farve and the Minnesota Vikings to make it to the Superbowl! Who Dat!

It is always great to visit family, and we are so grateful to have had the opportunity to visit with the Ray's since we missed everyone during Christmas! Thanks for coming, and next time, we'll meet you at Uncle Calvin's!
